Co-operation agreement for education in aquaculture signed in Ísafjörður

On January 6, Arnarlax and the Ísafjörður High School signed a cooperation agreement along with the aquaculture companies Arctic Fish and Háafell for secondary school education in aquaculture in collaboration with Vestfjarðastofa (Westfjords Regional Development Office). In the Westfjords, as in other parts of the country, fish farming as an industry is growing rapidly and there is a great shortage of educated personnel to respond to that growth.

A new course that will be led by the Ísafjörður High School is entitled ” Hafið, umhverfið og auðlindir” eða “the ocean, the environment and resources.”

Björn Hembre, CEO of Arnarlax,

“I believe that new studies in aquaculture in Ísafjörður and in other parts of the country are a big step for the aquaculture industry. There is a great need for good, talented young people in the coming years in the industry”
